The Hungarian Rodeo
At the end of July, for one weekend, the Hell on Hooves Ranch in Monorierdő is transformed into the Wild West as it hosts the annual “Tyuxi Rodeo.” For these two days, the town in Pest County is filled with a genuine “American feeling.” József Nádor, known as “Tyuxi,” the event’s founder and namesake, was himself a rider and decided to bring the atmosphere of bull riding to Hungary. The two-day event features a wide range of programs for visitors, but undoubtedly the live bull-riding show is the highlight, where the goal is that famous eight seconds on the back of a nearly one-thousand-kilogram, raging bull.
